Sky Sports Pundit Charlie Nicholas has said that Premier League clubs could be interested in signing Celtic ace Stuart Armstrong, should the player impress while on international duty with Scotland against England.
The 25-year-old Armstrong played a major role in Celtic’s treble winning success this past season, scoring 17 goals from 47 matches in all competitions. His current deal with the Hoops runs until 2018 and he has yet to pen a new deal at the club.
Nicholas told Sky Sports, “The Celtic players are obviously on a high after what they achieved and the one I’m pinning my hopes on is Armstrong.
“He’s not signed a new contract and I imagine teams of significance in England will be interested, especially if he performs on Saturday.”
It remains to be seen whether Armstrong will feel that he needs to challenge himself in English Football or whether he wishes to remain in Scotland. Based on his performances however this past season, English clubs may feel that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.
