Ex-teammate says Everton target is open to moving this summer

Former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnson has said that former Iceland team-mate Gylfi Sigurdsson will be tempted to leave current club Swansea should he receive an offer from a team that can offer him the prospect of playing in European competition

Sigurdsson has been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Everton, who are looking to bolster their squad ahead of their Europa League adventure next season.

The 27-year-old Sigurdsson was impressive last season, scoring nine goals and recording 13 assists to play a key role in helping Swansea avoid relegation last season

Swansea are naturally keen to keep hold off their prized asset, but considering the interest that has been generated, there is a strong chance that he will leave.

Gudjohnson said, “Gylfi has had a really good season. He’s obviously been one of the most important players in keeping Swansea in the Premier League. He’s got tremendous quality, but he can still improve on certain things whether he stays or go.

“But he’s come to an age where he might want to try his luck at a bigger club or even European football. It’s all down to him. If he’s happy where he is, he should stay.”
