Birmingham reportedly battle Everton for French attacker

Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly aiming to beat Everton in the race to sign French youngster Junior Sambia.

The defensive midfielder has been scouted by a number of clubs after impressing in the French Ligue 2 for Chamois Niortais this past season. Since busting onto the scene in 2014, Sambia has notched 82 appearances for Niortais.

Redknapp is aiming to bolster his side after saving them from relegation this past season. A move to the Blues may well see Sambia placed into the first team, where he will be required to compete for a place in the starting lineup.

Should the 20-year-old Sambia move to Everton though, the likelihood is that he will only be drafted into the under-23 side in order for the Premier League club to analyze whether he is capable of playing for the first team.

A move to Birmingham City will perhaps be better for Sambia at this stage of his career.
