According to reports, Belgian club Anderlecht are interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels.
After joining the Magpies from Gent for £5.5 million last summer, Sels has struggled to earn game time at the club and lies below Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow in the club’s pecking order at the moment.
Rafa Benitez handed the 25-year-old Sels starts during the first nine games of this past Championship season.
However he was dropped after showing signs of looking uncomfortable especially with regards to crosses in the box. After a high profile error against Aston Villa last September, Sels has not appeared for the Magpies.
With the experienced Tim Krul set to return to the fold this summer, Sels first team chances could be further reduced.
Anderlecht Sport director Herman Van Holsbeeck said of Sels, “He’s a good goalkeeper, but a deal will be complicated.”
