Newcastle star says he has improved since leaving Aston Villa

Ciaran Clark has revealed that he feels that he has become a better player since joining Newcastle from Aston Villa last summer.

The 27-year-old has credited Rafa Benitez for his improvement this season, saying, “It has been a total change for me. He’s real man-manager and he wants you to get involved and learn.”

The Republic of Ireland international has established himself as a key player for the Magpies this season and since he suffered an injury setback against Fulham last month, the performance of the team has suffered.

During his absence, the Magpies have suffered defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town and lost first position on the Championship standings to Brighton and Hove Albion.

After returning to training this week, Newcastle faithful will hope that Clark can play a key role for the side during the final games of the season as the club looks to secure automatic promotion to the Premiership.
