Koeman reveals major blow for Everton

Lukaku

Everton boss Ronald Koeman announced on Thursday that Romelu Lukaku will not be signing a new deal with the club, which effectively puts an end to any remaining hope that fans had for the 23-year-old to remain at the Merseyside club beyond this season.

The Belgian international has two years remaining on his current deal at Goodison Park and will be sold as he looks to achieve his ambition of playing UEFA Champions League football.

“He told me he won’t sign a new contract”, said Koeman.  Lukaku’s former club Chelsea are reportedly keen on bringing him back to Stamford Bridge. Considering that the Blues have been in great form under Antonio Conte this season, he may also be keen to move back to his former club.

For Koeman, he will have to look to sign quality strikers during the summer so that the role that Lukaku served this term will be served in future seasons.
