Everton reportedly looking at £2million replacement for Romelu Lukaku

According to reports from the Sun, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing Orlando City star Cyle Larin due to the striker’s impressive form in the MLS.

Everton are looking for new strikers to purchase during the summer as they are set to lose talismanic forward Romelu Lukaku and reportedly have scouts monitoring the progress of Larin.

The Canada international has notched 34 goals from 61 games for Orlando and has made an impressive start to the new MLS season with three goals from two matches.

The 21-year-old will reportedly cost around £2 million which for Everton would barely hurt their funds. However he may not be a replacement for Lukaku. He is untested in European football and there is a massive difference in the standards of MLS as compared to English football.

Nonetheless, the fact that Larin has displayed such form at a young age proves that he has potential to emulate players who succeed in Europe after coming from the MLS, such as Clint Dempsey and Brian McBride.
