There have been a fair number of Reds leave for their national teams for this break. But how are they doing so far as they navigate the often treacherous waters of World Cup qualifiers and ‘friendlies?’
Wednesday
Friendly: Germany 1-0 England: Liverpool star Adam Lallana started for England and played for 66 minutes. Nathaniel Clyne was on the bench, but he did not play. Emre Can came on for Germany in the 66th minute of the match.
Thursday
CONMEBOL Qualifier: Uruguay 1-4 Brazil: Brazil essentially booked their spot in Russia with an emphatic win over Suarez-less Uruguay. Philippe Coutinho played until the 86th minute while Roberto Firmino played until the 89th minute as he filled in for Gabriel Jesus up front.
International Friendly: Nigeria 1-1 Senegal: Reds winger Sadio Mane came on in the 65th minute for Senegal and was one the pitch when Nigeria equalized.
Friday will see action pick up even more globally as the European sides get back to qualifiers. We’ll have more reports from that action later.
* All results are as of Friday morning, and this includes only senior national teams.
