Newcastle United flop Florian Thauvin has disclosed information regarding his exit from the Magpies for next season. The 24-year-old joined the Magpies from Marseille during the summer of 2015 for £15 million but failed to live up to the expectations.
After 16 appearances for the English club, which were made up largely of unconvincing performances, he rejoined the Ligue 1 club during the following January transfer window and has remained at the club for this season.
Thauvin has now revealed that his loan move to return to the Ligue 1 included a release clause that would see the move be made permanent after a mere three matches.
“It was a loan with an automatic purchase,” the France international told RMC Sport.”After three games I belonged to Marseille so it was almost a transfer. No doubt, I’ll be at Marseille next season.”
Marseille are set to pay a reported £10 million for the services of the French international which means a significant loss for Newcastle.
