Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Liverpool could have a negative impact on Everton’s transfer plans during the summer.
The Toffees will be looking to add big name players and spend a lot as they look to build a trophy challenging team ahead of next season.
The Merseyside outfit have already showed their intent on keeping hold of key players by tying down ace Romelu Lukaku on a £140,000 a week deal.
Wright however believes that the presence of rivals Liverpool could have a negative impact on the transfer plans of Everton. While talking to BT Sport, he said, “They’re going to need to attract big players
“You’ve got Liverpool across the road and it’s like ‘are you going to go to Liverpool or are you going to go to Everton?
“When you look at the six teams in front of them – I think Tottenham have gone to another level in respect to what they’re doing. Everton are exactly where they should be.
“Now what we’re seeing with Everton is the capability of kicking on. It depends on signings but when you see Romelu Lukaku signing a new contract, that’s really good.
“They have to sort out their manager’s future because it looks like there’s good times ahead for him because they are pushing, they are knocking on the door.”
