Arsenal legend Paul Merson is hoping for Everton youngster Tom Davies to be called up by the England national team for their next games.
The 18-year-old has had a breakout season, establishing himself as a regular in Ronald Koeman’s team and is arguably one of the best young players in the Premier League.
Since debuting for the Toffees in April last year, Davies has gone on to notch 17 appearances for club and was part of the team that routed West Brom 3-0 on Saturday.
Merson believes that his name should be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad list which will be named later this month and said, “People might say it’s a bit early, but I would put him into the squad. I think he’s a very good player, and I’m big fan of his. Even if he just trains with them to see what it’s like. He might settle in.”
