Brendan Rodgers announced that Celtic won’t change significantly during the summer transfer window, but some departures and arrivals will certainly happen. Here are the top five players who will leave Celtic in the summer:
5 Efe Ambrose
Efe Ambrose was loaned out to Hibernian and it is clear that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t count on him. His contract is due to expire in the summer and the robust defender will leave the club.
4 Kris Commons
Until the 2015/16 season, attacking midfielder Kris Commons was one of the most important players in the squad. However, he didn’t feature for Celtic in this season at all! Brendan Rodgers thinks that 33-year-old player is well past his prime and Commons will most likely leave the club in the summer.
3 Kolo Toure
Kolo Toure appeared to be one of Rodgers’ best acquisitions, but younger and faster Jozo Simunovic stole his place in the starting line-up. At 35, Toure will have to think about his options during the summer (he might even retire), after his contract with Celtic expires.
2 Patrick Roberts
Patrick Roberts used his loan spell at Celtic to develop, score goals and win trophies and he can be very satisfied with all the things he did after his loan deal finishes. Although Celtic wants to keep the young striker, Roberts stated that he will try to fight for his place in Manchester City in the forthcoming season.
1 Erik Sviatchenko
Although Celtic will do everything in their power to keep the most important players, it is unlikely they will be able to do so. Of course, Moussa Dembele will be one of the hottest topics of the summer, but we believe the French youngster will stay in Celtic for at least one more year. On the other hand, Sviatchenko is wanted by numerous English Premier League clubs and the defender will most likely leave the club.
