According to the Sun, Newcastle are the favourites to sign Hull City’s Harry Maguire. The Magpies will have to fork out a sum in the region of £12 million for Maguire, who has impressed defensively for the Tigers this season.
The 24 year old joined Hull from Sheffield United in 2014 and he is allegedly unhappy with Hull’s refusal to offer him an improved contract despite delivering performances that have prompted calls for him to be included in the England national team.
Though Maguire was not a first team regular during the opening matches of the season, he has now firmly establish himself as a key member of the Tigers, having played every minute of their last 13 matches.
Should Newcastle gain promotion, which appears very likely at this stage, a move is very much on the cards. Magpies manager Rafa Benitez will surely be looking to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season and Maguire would a good signing.
