Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has maintained that his club must stay focused after enjoying a great week whereby the Magpies recorded wins over fellow promotion chasers Brighton and Huddersfield to extend their lead at the top of the Championship standings to five points.
Newcastle recorded an impressive 3-1 win over high-flying Huddersfield at the John Smith’s stadium through goals from Matt Ritchie, Daryl Murphy and Dwight Gayle which resulted in the Terriers’ first home defeat since November.
Despite the Championship title now seemingly being the Magpies to lose, Benitez has maintained that his side must remain focused for their remaining games.
He said, “It is still one game at a time. We have more games to play and more points to play for. We have to enjoy today but in a couple of days we have to play a game so that is a difficult part of this game. We have to be ready.”
