According to sources in Italy, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been linked to moving for the signature for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian international won the PFA Player of the Year Award last season, helping the Foxes to an amazing Premier League victory despite having 5000 to 1 odds. This season, however, has seen him have a much more difficult time.
He’s done well in the Champions League. Scoring four goals and having one assist. In fact, he’s scored more in just six of those matches than he has in Premier League play.
As for Liverpool here, this move is a bit interesting. Liverpool certainly need more depth, and they need it to be quality. But which Mahrez is the real one? We know that N’Golo Kante is the real deal, but the jury is out on Mahrez.
And at the moment, Liverpool have plenty of players that are currently being judged. This isn’t the type of signing that is needed at the moment at all, and it’s unlikely to see him heading to Anfield soon.
