Newcastle star delivers cheeky reaction to his freak goal

Newcastle left things very late in their 2-1 win at title rivals Brighton on Tuesday night.

Going into the game, the Seagulls had a one-point lead over their opponents at the top of the table. Glenn Murray gave his side an early lead through 14th-minute penalty and it appeared that Chris Hughton’s side would open up a four-point lead at the top.

However, the Magpies rallied a late comeback and scored two goals in the last nine minutes of the game to make their way to the top of the table.

The comeback started through Mohammed Diame, who scored a very lucky goal in the 81st minute. The 29-year-old unknowingly poked out his foot on Christian Atsu’s wayward volley and the ball fortuitously looped up over Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale into the net.

After the dust was settled, the Senegalese posted a cheeky reaction to his goal on his Twitter account.

Here’s a look at the leveller from Diame.

As things stand, the Magpies have a two-point lead at the summit of the league table.
