Former Aston Villa and Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has compared Everton defender Idrissa Gueye to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
Di Matteo managed the midfield enforcer for a short amount of time before he sealed a move to the Toffees and the Italian has now spoken in glowing terms about the midfielder.
Gueye has displayed signs of brilliance during the opportunities he has been handed by Koeman but has yet to establish himself as a first team regular in the squad due to the competition he faces from other impressive players.
Kante played a key role in Leicester’s shock Premier League winning campaign last season and he is also playing a similarly crucial role for Chelsea this term, as they look destined to win the League.
Di Matteo commended Gueye telling the Daily Star, “Idrissa Gueye – a player that I have had at Aston Villa that now is at Everton. He is doing very good things. I consider him very similar to Kante. He is a very humble player, always available to do the dirty job for his team.”
