James McCarthy has stated that he is currently happy being an Everton player but admitted that he does not wish to remain on the bench.
After losing his place as a first team regular within the squad, McCarthy has been linked with numerous Premier League teams, however Everton refused to sell.
It was on the transfer deadline day that Everton manager Ronald Koeman insisted that he had no plans to listen to offers for McCarthy and that he saw him as being at the club for the long term.
McCarthy endured fitness problems in the first half of the campaign but did make appearances in December against Watford, Arsenal and Liverpool.
McCarthy won his place back within the team against Bounemouth last week and scored to help his club to a 6-3 demolition of the Cherries.
He now hopes to keep his place within the team and said, “I’m happy enough here, I want to play games, I want to be involved as much as I can but within the squad every other player wants to play as much as they can, I’m no different.”
