Tottenham vs Liverpool: Looking back to their previous league meeting

Anfield

Liverpool and Tottenham have already squared off twice this season. Once in the league, once in the EFL Cup. Seeing as how both sides used a somewhat ‘weaker’ side in the cup match, we’ll discount it for our purposes.

Spurs welcomed the Reds to White Hart Lane all the way back in August for an eagerly anticipated match. That was so far back, in fact, that Simon Mignolet was in goal for his first stint as the starter.

The match started quickly for Liverpool as they were the side that created- and wasted- chances to score by shooting tamely at goalkeeper Michel Vorm. They were rewarded with a penalty on the stroke of half time, though, and James Milner dispatched it with ease.

Spurs came rallying back in the second half to try and prevent Liverpool from taking all three points back to Anfield. Danny Rose got in down the left and finished beautifully as the match would peter out with a 1-1 score.

You’d have to think that this one will also be a tight affair, and it’s pretty like to play out as a draw yet again.
