Koeman says he has been left unimpressed by new Everton signing

Despite Donkor earning good reviews from fans for his exploits while Everton’s under 23’s faced off against Manchester United under 23’s, manager Ronald Koeman has said that he was not impressed – as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

During the match, United struggled to contain the threat of Donkor who was signed on loan from Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg until the end of the season and he managed to claim an assist.

Koeman said, “Impressed? Not. That is something you did not expect. I spoke to the boy. He gets the opportunity to be with the U23. Maybe sometimes he can train with the first team. I wasn’t impressed. I expect more from everybody.”

With Mason Holgate, Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman all competing for places in the Everton lineup this season, it is unlikely that Donkor will be drafted into the first team at least until next season.

If he impresses for the under 23’s he will stand a high chance of featuring next season especially as Koeman is also a manager who is not afraid to experiment with youth.
