Championship side Leeds Utd were heavily linked with a January loan move for Liverpool starlet Ovie Ejaria. However, a move never materialised as the window closed down on 31 January.
Now, according to All Nigeria Soccer, the 19-year-old had been given permission by manager Jurgen Klopp to join Gary Monk’s side for the rest of the season. But, a last-minute ankle ligament injury prevented the young midfielder from joining the promotion-chasing Championship club.
Monk reportedly wanted to sign Ejaria as a potential replacement for Alex Mowatt, who joined Championship rivals Barnsley in January.
Ejaria, who has made eight senior appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season, picked up his injury in the Reds’ FA Cup defeat to Wolves.
Meanwhile, Leeds did manage to complete a couple of signings on the deadline day as wingers Alfonso Pedraza and Mo Barrow arrived at Elland Road from Villarreal and Swansea respectively.
