New Everton midfielder Anton Donkor, acquired on loan from Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg on loan, was apparently (via HITC) impressive on his debut for the teams under 23 side.
Donkor made his debut against Manchester United on Monday and played a key role in the team’s 3-1 victory. The loan deal was made reportedly with a view to sign the player permanently.
Donkor and Bass Sambou who joined Everton from Coventry during the summer were the chief engineers of Everton’s victory.
Sambou netted a brace while Donkor provided an assist and caused massive problems for the Manchester United players.
Donkor will certainly have to do more to convince the Everton staff to sign him on a permanent basis, however this was definitely a good start. Donkor’s performance has reportedly been so encouraging that some Everton faithful are already questioning whether he should be in the first team.
If he carries on playing the way he played against Man United, he should be there soon.
