In an interview with 888sport.com, former Liverpool man Luis Garcia spoke about the club’s current plight. Garcia wasn’t at Anfield for long, but he left an indelible mark on the club and still has his name sung frequently by those on the Kop.
Garcia has urged the Reds to focus on the top four. He says “we cannot be worried about the title race, because that was only possible for a short period of time.” He also says Liverpool need to win against Chelsea to help continue those very hopes.
Garcia knows a thing or two about defeating Chelsea, and he knows it will be a “difficult, difficult game.” But Garcia is 100% right about everything he’s said here. Coming into the season, Liverpool’s task was to qualify for the Champions League.
After missing out last season due to one of the worst halves of football they’ve ever played in the Europa League final, they would have been expected to improve in the league. They’ve done that for most of the season.
They will have to turn their focus to achieving a top four position, and then they can drive on further if they are given the chance by the other sides.
