Rumored one-time Liverpool transfer target Quincy Promes has declared that he “never thought about other clubs- never” when speaking to Sport Express in Russia. Promes, a 25-year-old winger, became heavily linked with the Reds last month.
That link was due to the fact that Sadio Mane was off to the Africa Cup of Nations and also because of Gini Wijnaldum. Wijnaldum, remember, spoke very highly of his Dutch compatriot and said he wanted his fellow countryman at the club.
With Promes adamant that he wants to stay in Russia for now, claiming the time isn’t right for a move, don’t expect this deal to magically happen. Promes is making a very smart career decision here.
A move in January is always hard to pull off, and both he and Liverpool will need the move to work. If it’s going to happen, it will in the summer like most transfers should.
