Four Players Liverpool Must Sign Before Transfer Deadline Day

It is no secret that Liverpool are in a very poor run of form at the moment.  Since the turn of the New Year, the Reds have only picked up one win (against fourth division side Plymouth in a replay by a narrow one goal margin).  Liverpool are in desperate need of help in seemingly lots of departments.  They have looked far less imposing going forward in recent weeks than they had at the beginning of the season, but they have also looked even flimsier at the back at times.  Here are four players Liverpool could sign to sure up their side for the months ahead.

4 Yuto Nagatomo

Liverpool desperately need help at left back. They need someone that won’t break the bank, is expensive, and can play sound defensively.  Nagatomo fits that bill, and his work rate would fit in well with Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.  James Milner is being run ragged, and Liverpool could use him in midfield on occasion.

3 William Carvalho

Liverpool also need help down the middle of the field. The Reds don’t have a true “stopper” in their side besides Lucas, and he’s clearly not preferred.  The way to correct this problem is obviously not by pairing Can and Henderson.  Carvalho would be pretty expensive, but he’d plug in that hole for quite a while to come.

2 Julian Brandt

The German international winger would re-energize the Reds going forward, and some rumors are stating it could be for quite a bit less than most would expect. Liverpool can always use more good wing players, and it’s obvious that they have few natural ones currently in the squad.  Brandt could give Klopp yet another option to use in his squad.

1 Virgil van Dijk

We all know that this was unlikely to begin with, and that it’s almost a definite no-go since he is injured. At any rate, Liverpool need a player with his type of ability in the back line next to Joel Matip.  Van Dijk has speed, ability on the ball, heading, and excellent positional sense.  All of the traits are ones that most of the Reds lack defensively.
