According to reports, Sunderland made attempts to sign Everton duo Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson. The Mail report that Sunderland made enquiries about the players as David Moyes looks to help prevent the struggling club from being relegated this season.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is said to not want to sell Oviedo, however he may be getting frustrated by a lack of regular game time at his current club. Since joining Everton in 2012, Oviedo has always been a backup left back at Everton with Leighton Baines being preferred.

He has only played seven times this season and may be tempted to join Sunderland to gain regular playing time.

Darron Gibson is certain to leave Everton as he has made one appearance this season in the EFL Cup against Yeovil in August. The central midfielder is reportedly not part of Koeman’s plans and lies low down in the first team pecking order.
