Liverpool reportedly to revisit their interest in German international

According to sources close to the Liverpool Echo (via Sky Sports), Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt. When he asked in an online chat, journalist James Pearce stated that “Klopp is a big fan and would have brought him in this window if Leverkusen had been willing to sell.”

Obviously, they were not willing to sell, and that was likely on of the reasons that Klopp was so frustrated last week when talking about making new signings. Klopp knows his side need top signings in order to improve. With Brandt, he believes he has that.

Brandt is capable of playing in multiple positions, he can play at pace, he’s young, and he’s excellent out wide. Liverpool have been incredibly short on good wide players for years, so it’d be great to finally have two at once. Maybe this would take the burden off of the full backs for a change!

Expect this to be a long, drawn out saga. There will be other clubs looking to buy him as well, so Leverkusen are going to get top dollar for the German international. Where he ends up is anyone’s guess at this point.
