Klopp Reaches Agreement with Player to Remain at Liverpool

One of the big rumors going around Anfield for some time now has involved Lucas Leiva and his seemingly imminent departure.  Yet, Lucas is still at the club, despise having had three different windows to move since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

The media (PA Sport) asked fresh questions of manager Jurgen Klopp yesterday after Lucas scored his first goal in seven years and 201 matches in addition to captaining a very young side to see out a 1-0 win in a hostile environment at League Two Plymouth.

Asked whether or not the Brazilian would stay, Klopp stated “we have a kind of agreement, so I would say yes.”  Lucas has always been one to keep his word.  He’s practically sacrificed a good chunk of his career for the club in reality.

Lucas is a rarity in today’s game, and he should be commended for what he is doing.  There are many, many youngsters that leave clubs at the first sign of competition.  Yet Lucas continues to fight and serve as a role model to Liverpool’s youth.

With all of that said, he’s also earned the right to choose where he wants to go, so hopefully in the summer he can sort something out.  Whether it’s at Liverpool or elsewhere, he deserves to go where he wants.
