Celtic Loan Watch- How 6 Players Have Performed This Season

Celtic has sent six players on loan this season. Most of them are 21 or younger and they are all hoping for a place in the squad rotation system in the future. While it’s not very likely that all of them will find their place in Celtic, good performances while they are out on loan can help them find a new club where they will be central members of the squad.

6 Eoghan O’Connell

Eoghan O’Connell is a 21-year-old centre back that is currently loaned out to League One club Walsall. He played only one match for them this season and he will probably move clubs in the summer, since his contract with Celtic expires in May. He came to Celtic six years ago and he apparently failed to impress the staff.

5 Michael Duffy

The Northern Irish striker is 22 and he is loaned out to Dundee. He came to Celtic in 2014, after excellent season in Irish Derry City, when he scored 11 goals. However, he featured only 8 times for Dundee this season and failed to score, so he will probably have to find another club in the summer.

4 Paul McMullan

Paul McMullan is on loan at Dumfermline, which is currently 5th on the Scottish Championship table. McMullan is a striker and he played 15 matches so far in Championship. However, he failed to impress and he hasn’t scored a single goal so far.

3 Jamie Lindsay

Jamie Lindsay is a 21-year-old defensive midfielder, currently on loan in Morton, in Scottish Championship. Lindsay played 19 matches for Morton so far in the season and he is one of the best players in the club. Since they are currently 3rd on the table there is a possibility for Lindsay to play in Scottish Premier League next season, if Morton buys out his contract.

2 Scott Allan

Scott Allan was loaned out to English Championship side Rotherham in the summer, but he failed to impress. He played only nine matches, hasn’t featured for them since October and he is desperately trying to find a new club this January. Rotherham is on the bottom of English Championship table, Allan’s contract with Celtic expires this summer and it is hard to believe that the 25-year-old midfielder will stay at the club.

1 Saidy Janko

Saidy Janko is the best player currently loaned out by Celtic. He played seven matches for English Championship side Barnsley and scored one goal. It was surprising when Celtic loaned out the 21-year-old right back on the deadline day in summer transfer window, but Janko failed to impress in Barnsley. On the other hand, he certainly has the biggest potential out of all loaned out players and we should see him in Celtic’s shirt again.
