With Ferguson gone, Pogba is ready to come Home

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba will be returning to Manchester United and his return didn’t come at an easy price. The transfer fee cost Manchester 105 million euros, which equates to roughly $116 million, something no football betting website saw coming. But that’s not all; stipulations in the agreement include a potential bonus fee that stretches into another five million euros. Manchester knows this is quite a financial burden and has 2 fiscal years to pay the debt. The statement released by the Juventus Football Club captures the magnitude of this transaction.

“The consideration may increase by five million euros on achieving given conditions in the course of the duration of the contract, thus making Pogba the most valuable player in the sport’s history.”

Pogba’s deal was reported by the British media to cost 89 million pounds, the equivalence of 105 million euros. This surpasses the transfer fee Real Madrid had paid for Gareth Bale in 2013 by a whopping 20 million pounds. With this deal officially inked Pogba will be returning to his former club, where had been ever since 2009.

Pogba’s reason for departing from Man U back in 2012 was quite clear, but his communication with his then former club wasn’t. In fact former United manager Alex Ferguson even went as far as to question Pogba’s character after it was clear he was heading to Juventus.

“It is disappointing. I don’t think he showed us any respect at all, to be honest.” Ferguson stated in disapproval. “I’m quite happy that if they [footballers] carry on that way, they’re probably better doing it away from us.”

While Ferguson may have been insulted, the management has no qualms about Pogba, evident by their record breaking deal. Pogba’s major reason for departing from Manchester was the lack of playing time that he was receiving. In fact Pogba can recall the exact game that convinced him to walk away from the club.

Back in 2011 during a New Year’s Eve matchup Manchester had a brief stint with injuries and there was an opportunity for Pogba to start. Instead of calling on the young Frenchman Ferguson elected to play Rafael Da Silva and Ji-Sung Park. The decision did not pay off as Manchester ended up losing 3-2.  Pogba received some playing time later on in the season, but never a start and this is what ultimately drove him away from the Red Devils. Pogba’s departure wasn’t anticipated, and to say that his decision shocked football betting websites around the world would be an understatement.

“I am delighted to rejoin United,” Pogba stated publicly. “It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with Jose Mourinho.”

It’s clear that both sides are ready to put the past behind them and get started on some quality football. While making headlines by spending money isn’t enough to guarantee a championship, the addition of Pogba will certainly make Manchester favorites in football betting websites worldwide. One thing’s for certain both Mourinho and Pogba will be excited to finally be able to get to work.
