Mourinho sets deadline for high-profile transfer

Paul Pogba

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that he would like his full squad in place before the start of the Premier league season.

The last piece of transfer business for the Red Devils appears to be wrapping up the supposed Paul Pogba situation and according to the Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese manager wants the Frenchman to fly to England this weekend to put a pen to paper.

Pogba has been on holiday since France crashed out of the European Championship, but it was expected that the former United player was going to finalize his move back to Old Trafford this past Thursday until a delay caused a holdup.

Mourinho has a week left to tie up any loose ends in order to get his full squad in place, which includes any transfer related business, but they must first do battle with reigning Premier league champions Leicester City on Sunday for the FA Community Shield trophy.

The ‘Special One’ mentioned in his press conference on Friday (cited by the Telegraph),“The market closes on August 31 but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before August 14 [date of Bournemouth Premier League opener], so normally next week we will have our squad closed.”

It’s understandable that Mourinho would want his full squad in place before the start of the new season, however, a player of Pogba’s abilities is certainly worth waiting until the close of the market at the end of the month.
