Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of striker Stefan Kiessling after the player himself confirmed that he would be willing to make a move. The Bayer Leverkusen forward has found game time hard to come by this season and reports claimed that the player has grown increasingly frustrated with a lack of action.
Kiessling himself also confirmed rumours about his future by admitting that he would be interested in leaving his current club in order to play more games. Speaking to Sky Sports Deutschland, the forward said, “I’ve got to be honest and say we’ll have to see. I’ve given it some thought and I will keep thinking about it.”
The forward however did admit that he would not leave Leverkusen, the club he’s been with for the last 10 years, without hesitation. He added, “The situation is that of course I would like to be playing – I’ve been here for 10 years and love this club and everybody knows how happy I am here.”
The 31-year-old is seen as a Leverkusen legend after having played more than 300 games while bagging 125 goals in the process. “I’ve got a pretty good relationship with the fans and of course also with the club. I love playing here and I love this club, and it’s overall a very, very difficult situation for me and everybody knows this” , he said.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a fan of the player and he is being seen as an experienced yet inexpensive goalscoring option that the Reds can turn to. Liverpool could use another forward and it will be interesting to see becomes of this deal.
