Klopp for the Kop

Jurgen Klopp has been appointed manager of Liverpool on a deal worth £15m after the saga to replace Rodgers finally ended. Klopp, 48, has signed a three-year contract at Anfield, returning back to football as he left Borussia Dortmund last season.

The German replaces Brendan Rodgers for the position as the Northern Irishman was sacked on Sunday following the 1-1 draw against Everton.

Klopp will be officially presented as the club’s 7th manager in the Premier League era on Friday morning at a news conference.

Regarded as one of the top coaches in Europe, having taken the Liverpool job gives fans hope of a massive turning point to finally make them a force to be reckoned with in the league. After former Liverpool captain, Jamie Carragher stated that he feels Liverpool is “becoming Spurs” it will be great news to the Red fans as a manager of Klopp’s quality is ready to take charge.

Liverpool has recently been in an unpredictable form. After the 3-0 loss against West Ham and barely scraping a win on penalties against League 2 side Carlisle in the Capital One Cup, fans are optimistic about the club’s future.

Liverpool currently sit 10th in the Premier League table after winning three games out of a possible eight, the club is just three points outside the top four spot and only six behind leaders Manchester City.

Klopp was with Dortmund for seven years, leading the club to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12, a DFB Pokal in the 2011/12 season, three DFL Supercups, and a UEFA Champions League runner up in the 2012/13 season only to lose 2-1 to fellow German team Bayern Munich.

Klopp has also managed to produce a wide range of class players, such as: Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze, Ilkay Gundogan, and Shinji Kagawa to name a few. The German is also planning to let the current players prove themselves and is not planning a significant overhaul by any means. He will also bring in his coaching staff and Rodgers’ assistant manager Sean O’Driscoll and first-team coach Gary McAllister after they were fired earlier on Thursday.
