Liverpool’s summer spree continues following the club’s 7th signing in the form of Bobby Adekanye from Barcelona

Liverpool have recruited a couple of top class players such as Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner during the transfer window this summer but manager Brendan Rodgers is an advocate of planning for the future as well and to stay true to his philosophy, the Northern Irishman has moved on to secure the services of youngster Bobby Adekanye.

Adekanye joins Liverpool from Barcelona and the winger himself went on to confirm his move to Anfield through social media site Instagram. He posted, “I am very happy to sign for Liverpool.”

Adekanye was born in Nigeria but he began his footballing journey in the Netherlands after his family moved there when he was four.

The winger joined the youth ranks of Ajax and was then snapped up by Spanish giants Barcelona when he was 12 for the club’s famed La Masia academy. However, FIFA ruled that Adekanye was signed illegally from Ajax and was banned from taking part in competitive games for Barcelona.

Having spent various loan spells, Adekanye recently decided to leave Barcelona and has opted for a move to Liverpool instead.

Compared to Dutch star Arjen Robben, Adekanye has been widely hailed both in the Netherlands as well as Spain and the 16-year old could well develop into a top quality player for Liverpool in the years to come.
