It’s no secret that Manager Arsene Wenger has preferred to invest in youth players during tenure with Arsenal. “Le Professeur” has overseen the growth and advancement of many formerly unknown players into world superstars like Cesc Fabregas, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, and Ashley Cole, among many others.

Although Arsenal’s youth academy hasn’t been as successful as it was in the past, there are still a crop of prospects to look forward to in the future. The three of these prospects in particular, if they can continue their education, will more than likely be competing for a starting spot either on Arsenal or at least be loaned in the interim to a decent sized club.

In no particular order, I present to you the top 3 Arsenal youth products to look out for.

Gedion Zelalem

Born of Ethiopian parents, but raised in Germany and the United States, Zelalem is already a well-traveled individual despite his age. He excels in the Central Midfield position and is widely praised for creative vision, stylish passing, and ability to read the game. Currently at 6 feet tall, he has the height to tower over other players even at the tender age of just 17. It is highly likely that he will be competing for a starting position in the Arsenal midfield in a few years, along with Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.

Possesses very few weaknesses, but is lacking in pure strength and physical prowess. He can be out-muscled off the ball relatively easily by stronger opponents, although he can overcome this weakness with a few trips to the gymnasium.

That said, keep on eye on this one, he’ll be lighting up the Arsenal midfield soon enough. It also remains to be seen where his loyalty lies in regards to his International future. Will he align with Germany? Or perhaps Ethiopia? Maybe even the Untied States? Only time will tell.
