Match Preview
The State Fair Clasico has quickly become a fixture of the fair’s closing weekend. Dallas Trinity created the event in 2025, when Club America Femenil visited the Cotton Bowl and 22,838 fans set a Texas attendance record for a professional women’s sporting event.
This year’s visitors are a bigger draw still. Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil are one of the most popular women’s teams in the world, with a huge following in Texas.
The friendly does not count in either club’s league standings. Every match ticket also includes admission to the State Fair of Texas on Saturday, and the fair itself closes the following day, on October 18.
For Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil, the trip is a midseason test against American opposition before the league campaign resumes. For Dallas Trinity, it is the biggest stage of their fall season.
Recent Form
Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil. The Rojiblancas are second in Group B of the Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2026 with 21 points from 10 matches: seven wins, three defeats, 21 goals scored and 11 conceded.
Their most recent league match was a 1-0 home win over FC Juarez Femenil on October 4. Earlier wins included a 3-1 home win over Queretaro and a 4-1 win at Puebla, where Alicia Cervantes scored from a free kick.
Dallas Trinity. Trinity have 11 points from their first eight matches of the USL Super League fall season. Last Saturday, Seven Castain scored an 86th-minute equalizer to earn a 1-1 draw at Brooklyn FC.
Dallas finished fourth last season and have reached the playoff semifinals in each of the USL Super League’s first two seasons. Their league schedule pauses this weekend for the friendly.
Team News
No absences have been officially announced for either club ahead of the friendly, and lineups for a match like this are rarely confirmed in advance.
Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil are coached by Antonio Contreras. Their attack is led by Alicia Cervantes, the all-time top scorer in the club’s history, with Joseline Montoya, Jazmine Casarez and Denise Castro also on the scoresheet this season.
Dallas Trinity are led by first team manager Lee Nguyen, the former United States international midfielder, in his first season in charge. His rebuilt roster leans on NWSL loanees, including forward Seven Castain, on loan from Orlando Pride.
Key Storylines
Alicia Cervantes in Texas. Cervantes is the headline name on the Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil roster. She is also the all-time top scorer in Liga MX Femenil history, and her presence is a large part of why this fixture can chase last year’s record crowd.
The record chase. The first State Fair Clasico drew 22,838 fans to the Cotton Bowl, the largest crowd ever at a professional women’s sporting event in Texas. Dallas Trinity have said they want to raise that mark this year.
A measuring stick for Dallas. Trinity have reached the USL Super League playoff semifinals in each of the league’s first two seasons. A Liga MX Femenil power, and a two-time league champion, gives their rebuilt squad a rare international test at home.
A busy week for the Rojiblancas. Three days after Dallas, Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil are back at Estadio Akron for a league match, the second half of a doubleheader with the men’s team. The Dallas trip has to be managed with that schedule in mind.
What Comes Next for Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil and Dallas Trinity?
Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil host Necaxa Femenil on Tuesday, October 20 in Liga MX Femenil. Dallas Trinity resume their USL Super League season on Sunday, October 25 with a trip to DC Power.
