Liga MX is back. After a FIFA break that paused the Apertura 2026 following Jornada 10, the league returns on Friday, October 9 with Jornada 11, and it is coming back in style. The weekend is built around two clásicos: the Clásico Tapatío between Atlas and Chivas de Guadalajara on Saturday night, and the Clásico de la Obsesión between Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul on Sunday night. On top of that, Toluca and Club America are tied at the top of the table with 20 points apiece.
Clásico Tapatío: Atlas vs Chivas de Guadalajara
Saturday, October 10, 8:30 PM ET on Univision, TUDN and ViX Premium on Prime Video.
Chivas return from the break smarting from a 2-0 home defeat to Queretaro that left them third with 18 points, two points off the top. It was a missed opportunity, and now they walk into the fiercest rivalry in Guadalajara needing a response. Atlas, meanwhile, arrive in better spirits after a late 3-2 win at Tijuana moved them to sixth with 17 points, just one behind their city rivals. A Chivas win keeps the pressure on the leaders. An Atlas win would vault the Rojinegros past Chivas and into the top three.
Clásico de la Obsesión: Pumas UNAM vs Cruz Azul
Sunday, October 11, 9:10 PM ET on TUDN and ViX Premium on Prime Video.
Few fixtures in Liga MX carry as much recent edge as Pumas against Cruz Azul, a rivalry now known as the Clásico de la Obsesión, and Sunday’s meeting has plenty on the line. Pumas are in trouble after a 2-3 home defeat to Atletico San Luis dropped them to 12th with 12 points, outside the play-in places. Cruz Azul sit seventh with 16 points after a wild 3-3 draw with Toluca in Jornada 10. Pumas need a win to climb back into contention. Cruz Azul need one to stay in touch with the top six.
Dead Heat at the Top: Toluca and Club America
The title race is a tie. Toluca and America both sit on 20 points, with Toluca ahead on the tiebreaker, and America hold a game in hand. The leaders face very different tests this weekend. Toluca visit Tigres UANL on Friday night (10:00 PM ET on FS2, FOX One on Prime Video and Peacock on Prime Video) in a rematch of last December’s final, which Antonio Mohamed’s side won on penalties to seal the bicampeonato. America host Monterrey on Saturday night (11:10 PM ET on Univision, TUDN and ViX Premium on Prime Video) with Henry Martín in scoring form after his hat trick in the 4-2 win at Necaxa. If either slips, the other can take sole possession of first place.
Tigres UANL Are Running Out of Room
Tigres sit 15th with 10 points after ten rounds, a shocking position for a squad of this caliber, and there is no softer landing coming out of the break: the first game back is at home against the league leaders. Anything less than a result against Toluca, and the gap to the playoff places keeps growing.
