Why This Match Matters
Chivas sits second in Group B with 18 points, seven behind leader Club America, and a third straight win would keep the pressure on. The concern is the venue: the last two Akron games ended in defeat, 0-2 to Pumas UNAM and 2-3 to Rayadas. Antonio Contreras’ side rebuilt momentum on the road, winning 2-0 at Xolos Tijuana and 1-0 at Cruz Azul; now it has to defend its own ground.
Juarez arrives as one of the league’s hottest teams: six straight wins, 21 points and third place in Group A, three points behind Monterrey and one behind Tigres UANL. Óscar Fernández’s team went more than a year unbeaten at home in regular-season play; Sunday tests whether that form travels.
