Why this match matters

This is the marquee fixture of Jornada 10: the leaders of Group A against the leaders of Group B, and the two teams most observers consider the title favorites. Monterrey tops Group A with 24 points from nine matches (8-0-1, 35 goals scored, 10 conceded). America Femenil leads Group B with 25 points (8-1-0, 42 scored, 7 conceded), the best attack in the tournament. Jornada 10 is the last round before the FIFA international break, so the winner carries serious momentum into the pause.

There is recent history here. The sides met in the Clausura 2026 final in May: Monterrey won the first leg 1-0 at the BBVA, but America responded with a 3-0 victory in Mexico City to claim the championship. Friday is the first meeting since that final, and Monterrey has a score to settle at home.

Recent form: Monterrey

Monterrey’s last five league matches: five straight wins (W-W-W-W-W).

• August 29, 2026: Queretaro 0-4 Monterrey (away)
• September 5, 2026: Monterrey 5-1 Toluca (home)
• September 12, 2026: Chivas Guadalajara 2-3 Monterrey (away)
• September 18, 2026: Monterrey 10-0 Necaxa (home)
• September 27, 2026: Puebla 1-2 Monterrey (away)

The 10-0 demolition of Necaxa underlined the firepower in this squad, with 35 goals in nine matches. The 3-2 win at Chivas Guadalajara showed resilience on the road, with goals from Aerial Chavarin, a Blanca Félix own goal and Jermaine Seoposenwe. Five consecutive victories have the Rayadas two points clear of Tigres at the top of Group A.

Recent form: America Femenil

America Femenil’s last five league matches: four wins and one draw, unbeaten (W-W-W-D-W).

• August 30, 2026: America Femenil 3-1 Tijuana (home)
• September 4, 2026: Pumas UNAM 1-2 America Femenil (away)
• September 13, 2026: America Femenil 5-2 Tigres UANL (home)
• September 20, 2026: America Femenil 2-2 Atlas (home)
• September 28, 2026: Leon 0-5 America Femenil (away)

America’s attack is the story of the tournament: 42 goals in nine matches, led by Geyse, who had 12 goals after the 5-2 statement win over Tigres in which she scored. The 2-2 draw with Atlas ended a seven-match winning streak, but the 5-0 response at Leon, with 25 of 27 possible points collected, showed there was no hangover.

Team news

Both sides are missing a key player to suspension. Monterrey will be without Lucía García, who was sent off in the 72nd minute against Puebla on September 27. America Femenil will be without Gabriela García, suspended for yellow-card accumulation; she sits fourth in the scoring table with 7 goals, a meaningful absence. America Femenil is coached by Ángel Villacampa, whose attack has been the most prolific in the league. One note of caution for readers: a mid-September report speculated that Scarlett Camberos could face a suspension for a gesture during the Tigres win, but it was framed purely as speculation and no disciplinary ruling has been reported since, so it should not be treated as fact.

What to watch

The central battle is America’s record-breaking attack against Monterrey’s home fortress. America has scored 42 goals in nine matches; Monterrey has conceded just 10 and won five straight. The 5-2 America win over Tigres and Monterrey’s 10-0 demolition of Necaxa both came in September, so neither attack is slowing down.

The final rematch angle adds real spice. Monterrey won the last meeting at this stadium, 1-0 in the Clausura 2026 final first leg, before collapsing 3-0 in the return. The Rayadas will want to prove that second leg was the exception; America will want to show the championship gap is real. Expect an open, high-tempo match between the two best squads in the league.

Head to head

Recent meetings have been tight and high-stakes. In the Clausura 2026 final, Monterrey won 1-0 at home on May 14, 2026, and America Femenil won 3-0 at home on May 17, 2026, to take the championship. In the Clausura 2026 regular season, the sides drew 1-1 on February 15, 2026. In Apertura 2025, America won 2-1 away at Estadio BBVA in October 2025.

Prediction

Prediction: Monterrey 2-1 America Femenil. The Rayadas have won five straight, are formidable at the BBVA, and have revenge for the final on their minds; America’s unbeaten run meets its toughest test of the season.
