5 Things We Learned From Liga MX Jornada 10

Jornada 10 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 had a bit of everything: 35 goals across nine matches, a new co-leader at the top of the table, a stoppage-time equalizer in the round’s biggest fixture, and two winners struck after the 90th minute. Club America joined Toluca on 20 points, Queretaro kept their perfect away record intact with a smash-and-grab win at Chivas, and the bottom of the table showed real signs of life. Here are five things we learned.

1. Club America are level at the top, and Henry Martin is the reason

Club America twice came from behind to beat Necaxa 4-2 at Estadio Victoria on Sunday, September 27, and the captain did most of the damage himself. Henry Martín scored a hat-trick: the equalizer in the 39th minute after Owen González had put Necaxa ahead, a penalty in first-half stoppage time after Julián Carranza’s spot kick had restored the hosts’ lead, and the sealer from the penalty spot again in the 75th minute. Miguel Borja, handed his first start of the tournament, scored the go-ahead goal in the 56th minute.

The win took America to 20 points from nine matches, level with Toluca at the summit. The reigning champions stay first on goals scored, 23 to 21, but America have a game in hand and the momentum of a statement road win. Necaxa, meanwhile, sit 17th on eight points and are now eight league matches without a win.

2. Queretaro are the league’s best travelers, and Chivas paid the price

Queretaro went to Guadalajara on Saturday, September 26, and left with a 2-0 win that barely reflected the run of play. Chivas had 74 percent possession, 26 shots, seven on target, and 13 corners, but could not find a way through. It was Queretaro’s fourth away win of the tournament, and they remain unbeaten on the road.

They sit fourth on 17 points from nine matches, just one point behind Chivas, who stay third on 18 from 10 despite the defeat. If Queretaro keep taking points on the road like this, the race for a top-eight seed will run through them.

3. Toluca showed resilience and vulnerability on the same night

The round’s marquee fixture lived up to its billing. Cruz Azul led Toluca 2-0 at home on Saturday, September 26, only for the visitors to turn it completely around and lead 3-2, before Gabriel Fernández equalized in stoppage time to make it 3-3.

Toluca keep first place on 20 points, ahead of Club America only on goals scored, and coming from two goals down away from home is the mark of a serious team. But needing three goals to take a point, and conceding three times in a single night, is a warning sign. Cruz Azul, seventh on 16 points, will feel they let two points slip away.

4. The late winners belonged to Atlas and Leon

Atlas trailed 2-1 at halftime in Tijuana on Friday, September 25, and looked beaten. Then Luis Esteves converted an 87th-minute penalty and Florián Monzón won it at 90+1 for a 3-2 victory. Atlas dominated the ball with 70 percent possession, 17 shots, and 11 corners, and the win, their fifth of the tournament, lifted them to sixth on 17 points.

Leon left it even later. Against FC Juarez on Sunday, September 27, they saw the visitors equalize at 90+4, only for Alfonso Alvarado to score the winner at 90+9 for a 2-1 victory. Leon are fifth on 17 points, while Juarez remain bottom on three.

5. The bottom of the table is waking up

Atlante earned their first home win of the tournament on Friday, September 25, beating Monterrey 4-2 to end a six-match league winless run. They climb to 14th on 11 points, while Monterrey slip to 10th on 13.

Santos Laguna beat Pachuca 1-0 on Saturday, September 26, with Fran Villalba’s penalty securing a third consecutive win. They remain 16th on 10 points, but are now just four points off the top eight. Tigres UANL also ended a four-match winless run on Saturday, Juan Brunetta’s 52nd-minute penalty enough to beat Puebla 1-0 and move to 15th on 10 points.

Ten rounds in, two teams share the lead on 20 points, four more sit within three points of them, and even the bottom of the table is finding form. Jornada 11 has plenty to decide, and you can find U.S. TV and streaming information for the next round in FutnSoccer’s Liga MX viewing hub.
