Chivas News
Chivas Guadalajara are currently in good form, entering the repechaje in 7th place of the Liga MX standings with 26 points earned during the regular season.
Chivas have the advantage of playing at home, though they are coming up against the hottest team in the Liga MX. Furthermore, Chivas will be without key player and star striker JJ Macias.
Macias’ absence could prove to be the deciding factor for Chivas, as he is the main scorer for the Guadalajara team. It will be interesting to see how Chivas plays without their star striker.
Below you will see important stats about Chivas that could help determine the winner of this important Repechaje match.
Injured Players: Alexis Vega and JJ Macias are injured and will not be available for the important match against Necaxa. A huge blow for Chivas.

Necaxa News
On the opposite side, we have Necaxa in excellent form. Although Necaxa earned just 24 points this Liga MX season, barely enough for 10th place in the standings, they have won five out of their last five matches.
Necaxa’s recent form means you can mostly ignore their season averages, and focus on how they’ve been performing over the past couple of weeks. Necaxa will be playing away, but will be very difficult to defeat.
Necaxa is the dark horse to go all the way from a 10th place finish to a shot at the Liga MX title. It will be incredible to see their run. I expect much from them.
Below you will see important stats about Necaxa.
Recent Form: Win – Win – Win – Win – Win
Away Form: 3 Wins, 3 Draws, 3 Losses
Top Scorers: Zendejas (3 goals), Nieto (3 goals), Arteta (3 goals)

Chivas vs Necaxa Potential Lineups
Both teams will lineup with their best squad, given that this is a match where defeat will end the loser’s season.

Necaxa: Malagon, Dominguez, Bilbao, Gonzalez, Luna, Cabrera, Arce, Zendejas, Passerini, Delgado, Gonzalez
Chivas Guadalajara vs Necaxa Repechaje Rules
The Repechaje was introduced this season in order to create more playoff matches. This will allow the league to play a couple of extra matches, and thus generate more revenue during a season where they’ve had to play most matches without fans in the stands.
Teams that ended in spots 6th through 12th qualified to the Repechaje. The highest ranked team will be the host to the single-match elimination match. Winner take all.
If the match ends up the 90 minutes in a draw, the winner will be decided via penalty kicks. The winner will then qualify to the Quarter-Finals, where the four Repechaje winners will join the Liga MX teams that ended 1st – 4th.
I am personally not a fan of the Repechaje, as I don’t think that a team that ended in 12th place during the regular season should have a shot at potentially winning the Liga MX title. Furthermore, having a long season be determined by a single match seems unfair.
Nonetheless, the Liga MX has decided to follow this path as a way to generate more money, and I’m sure the fans will be excited to see more playoff soccer.
Chivas vs Necaxa Prediction
Expect Chivas to take the initiative during the match, as the home team, they will look to pressure Necaxa from the starting whistle. Nonetheless, Necaxa will know how to handle this pressure and use it to their advantage.
Given their recent form, I believe that Necaxa will take the victory over Chivas. Even though Chivas is playing at home, I believe that missing JJ Macias will prove to be too much of a mountain to climb.
Necaxa are in excellent form and have momentum on their side, they will take advantage of the injury plagued Chivas and move on to the quarter-finals of the Liga MX.
