Chivas Guadalajara have had a slow start to the season, earning just nine points through seven matches. Chivas’ offense is specially concerning, as the squad has scored a mere 8 goals in the Liga MX.
The bright point is that Chivas is coming off an away win against Xolos Tijuana. Though, that win might not mean match, as Xolos are fighting for the title as the worst team in the Liga MX (multi-ownership at work… at least Queretaro is doing fine).
Leon are having a good run in the Liga MX so far, sitting in third place with 15 points, with five wins and two losses. Most impressively, Leon have score 16 goals through those seven Liga MX games.
The negative spot for Leon is, of course, their meltdown in the return leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 against LAFC. Leon were 90 minutes away from eliminating Carlos Velas’ team from the CCL, after a good 2-0 win at home. However, the travel to Los Angeles did not work for the players, as they gave up a 3-0 loss that sent them out in a semi-embarrassing fashion (ok, in a very embarrassing fashion).
Leon will now have to look at the positive side and see that they can fully focus on the domestic league, and not have to worry about international glory. Chivas should have the advantage, the Guadalajara squad will be fresher and going up against a tired and demoralized Leon.

Chivas will have a slight edge, playing at home and hosting a demoralized Leon. Nonetheless, Leon have the talent advantage, and will not simply let Chivas take the three points. Expect a close encounter that ends in a 1-1 draw.
