The Atlas vs Club America Liga MX match will be broadcast live online and on TV as Los Zorros host Las Aguilas at the Estadio Jalisco this Friday, August 30, at 7:00 PM Pacific.
Atlas is coming off a very surprising 1-1 draw against Tigres UANL during the week in a match that was very hard-fought. Los Rojinegros were close to winning the game, but Jesus Duenas scored a late goal to tie the game for Tigres.
Atlas’ manager Leandro Cufre has been struggling to find his ideal starting 11, with a seemingly different lineup in each match. In his last match, Cufre used a 4-4-2 formation with the striker partnership of Facundo Barcelo and Christopher Trejo.
Club America can finish in first place by the end of the weekend, currently in third place with 15 points. The Mexico City team is coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw against Pachuca at the Estadio Azteca.
The result was even more disappointing considering that centre-back Emmanuel Aguilera received a red card and will now be unavailable for this match. Manager “Piojo” Herrera will now be forced to start a younger player or even experiment with having Paul Aguilar as a centre-back. Herrera did experiment with a backline of three in that match against Pachuca and it will be interesting to see if he repeats that tactic.
