Atlas will host Santos Laguna at the Estadio Jalisco this Friday, March 29, 2019 (8:00 PM Pacific) for a match in Week 12 of the Liga MX 2019 Clausura tournament.
New Atlas manager Leandro Cufre has already begun to make changes to the starting lineup as shown last week against Toluca. The changes did not seem to make much of an impact as Atlas lost 2-0 to Los Diablos Rojos at the Estadio Nemesio Diez.
Team captain Juan Pablo Vigon did not play in that match as he was serving a suspension and is now set to slot back into the lineup. Edgar Zaldivar played as a defensive midfielder against Toluca and is unlikely to take that role with Vigon back.
It will also be interesting to see how Cufre decides to set up his backline as Los Zorros even had a backline of five at times against Toluca. Here is how Cufre could setup his team: Jose Hernandez, Irving Zurita, Jorge Segura, Anderson Santamaria, Edgar Zaldivar, Juan Pablo Vigon, Osvaldo Martinez, Clifford Aboagye, Hernan Dario Burbano, Jesus Isijara, Facundo Barcelo.
Santos Laguna has not won in three consecutive league games, coming off a 2-1 loss to Necaxa at home. Los Guerreros still look like solid playoff-contenders and manager Salvador Reyes Jr. has not made many changes to his team over the weeks.
Here is how Reyes Jr. could setup his team: Jonathan Orozco, Javier Abella, Martin Nervo, Matheus Doria, Gerardo Arteaga, Jose Juan Vazquez, Diego Valdes, Brian Lozano, Marlos Moreno, Javier Correa, Julio Furch.
Jonathan Orozco and Matheus Doria are set to be back from injury, which should make a positive impact on the team. Ayrton Preciado is still injured and is unlikely to feature in this game as the midfield and attack have not been changed in recent games.
