Mexico will host Chile at SDCCU Stadium this Friday, March 22, 2019 (7:15 PM Pacific) for an international friendly match.
Mexico is undergoing a transitional phase as new manager Gerardo “Tata” Martino starts a new cycle with the Aztec side. El Tri does have some key absences as Jesus “Tecatito” Corona is out injured and Carlos Vela was simply not called up.
Martino still has several talented players that play in Europe like Andres Guardado, Diego Lainez, “Chicharito” Hernandez and Raul Jimenez. There are also several youngsters on the squad like Jorge Sanchez, Alexis Vega, Carlos Rodriguez and the young star Diego Lainez.
Ruben Rodriguez of Fox Sports Mexico leaked the starting lineup that the Argentine manager will use on Friday night and there are a few surprises. The leaked starting XI is as follows: Guillermo Ochoa, Luis Rodriguez, Edson Alvarez, Hector Moreno, Jesus Gallardo, Carlos Rodriguez, Victor Guzman, Andres Guardado, Rodolfo Pizarro, Hirving Lozano, Raul Jimenez.
The biggest surprises were the additions of Rodolfo Pizarro, Victor Guzman and young Monterrey midfielder Carlos Rodriguez. There are key absences to the lineup like Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Miguel Layun and Erick Gutierrez.
The midfield does not have much physicality, which is a big chance from the tactics Juan Carlos Osorio used with Mexico. The attack is very promising with Raul Jimenez and “Chucky” Lozano, but Rodolfo Pizarro is not living his best moment.
