Puebla is coming off its first win in the 2019 Clausura season, a 1-0 win against Veracruz away from home. The win was a huge momentum boost as Puebla and Veracruz are considered rivals and it also relieved some pressure off manager Enrique Meza, who seems to be on a tight rope.
Los Camoteros were able to come away with the three points thanks to a goal by Canadian striker Lucas Cavallini, who now has two goals this season and two in Puebla’s last two league games. La Franja played very conservatively against Los Tiburones Rojos and many fans were not happy with that, especially since the team had a man advantage for most of the encounter. Puebla is yet to win at home this season and this is a good opportunity to get that first win at the Estadio Cuauhtemoc up against a very inconsistent Necaxa team.
Los Rayos are off to a nice start to the season with two wins and a draw in three games played, but simply do not have the quality to keep on being consistent. Necaxa’s defense is especially vulnerable with players like Ventura Alvarado, Alexis Pena and Cristian Calderon.
“Memo” Vazquez’s attack also leaves a lot to be desired with players like Angel Sepulveda and Martin Barragan, who have not been consistent for years now. Los Rayos were winless away from home last season, but do have a win against Lobos BUAP this season in Puebla.
