This Sunday, December 2, 2018, Atletico San Luis defeated Dorados de Sinaloa in the second-leg of the 2018 Apertura Ascenso MX final 4-2. The final aggregate score was 4-3 and the clash was a highly intense, emotional and entertaining affair at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras that was decided in extra-time.

However, it proved to be a little too emotional for a few San Luis supporters as the attractive match was also interrupted constantly by incidents from the fans. The home fans at the Alfonso Lastras threw objects onto the field, at one another and at the visiting fans throughout the 120 minutes of play.

At one point in the clash, a firework was even thrown in the direction of Dorados’ goalkeeper Gaspar Servio and questions need to be asked about just how tight security measures were. Some San Luis fans were also able to walk right past where the Dorados’ fans were, which could have ended in complete chaos.

Chaos did strike at the Alfonso Lastras after the game as a few San Luis fans were sore winners as they tracked down Diego Maradona and ridiculed him. “El Diez” responded with slinging insults of his own as well as a few punches as he was held down by his own security core.

The game itself was spectacular, but it is hard to believe that all of these incidents occurred in a stadium that fits just over 25 thousand people.
