The playoff race in the Liga MX is as contested as ever with just three games left in the regular season after this weekend. Chivas de Guadalajara is one of the teams in the running for a playoff spot, but is now winless in five consecutive games after losing 2-1 to Monarcas Morelia this Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Los Rojiblancos are overachieving as the team was not even expected to be in the playoff discussion, but recent form suggests an uneventful finish. Usually, Liga MX teams struggle away from home and get most of their points in home games.

This even works for teams with limited squads and imposing grounds like the Tijuana Xolos with the Estadio Caliente and Puebla with the Estadio Cuauhtemoc. However, Chivas is one of the rare teams in the Liga MX that struggles at home and picks up points on the road as they now have lost five out of seven home games this season.

El Rebano Sagrado has five losses, a draw and just one win in seven games at the Estadio Akron this season. Jose Cardozo’s team has been outscored 11-7 at home this season and has failed to score more than a goal in a home game.

Chivas has struggled in Zapopan for the last couple of seasons and cannot possibly compete without consistency at the Estadio Akron.
