Tigres UANL will host Lobos BUAP in Week 14 of the Liga MX 2018 Apertura in what should be a pretty big mismatch. Lobos BUAP does not have a long history, but has exchanged players with Tigres UANL in recent years, here are four players that have played for both teams.
Luis Advincula
The Peruvian Right-back first arrived in Mexican soccer in 2017 with Tigres UANL then went on to be a crucial player for Lobos BUAP for a couple of seasons. Advincula is now a consistent starter for Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish La Liga and is still an important player for the Peru national team.
Julian Quinones
The Colombian striker started his career with Tigres UANL, but did not really receive recognition until joining Lobos BUAP in 2017. Quinones scored 17 goals in two seasons for La Manada and is now back at Tigres UANL, where he is yet to score in 10 appearances this season.
Hector Mancilla
Mancilla was a prominent goalscorer with Tigres UANL as he helped Ricardo Ferretti and company obtain a Liga MX title in the 2011 Apertura season. The Chilean striker had a later stint with Tigres in 2016 as well before finalizing his career with Lobos BUAP in 2017.
Luis Hernandez
“Matador” is one of the best players that Mexico has ever had and he did play for these two teams, believe it or not. Hernandez played with Tigres from 1998-2000, where he scored 39 goals before joining the LA Galaxy. The Mexican star ended his career in 2005 with Lobos BUAP in the Ascenso MX where he scored four goals in nine games.
Francisco Acuna
Francisco Acuna made his Liga MX debut for Tigres UANL in a “Clasico Regio” against Monterrey back in 2008. “Paco” had a dream debut as he scored against Rayados in Tigres’ 4-1 win and then was dubbed as “Messi”, a nickname that he is not fond of, but has stood to this day. Acuna has been a journeyman since that debut and had a stint with Lobos BUAP in the Ascesno MX from 2015-2016. The 30-year-old midfielder now plays with Lobos’ crosstown rivals Puebla and has become a fan-favorite in his second stint with La Franja.
