The Copa MX is not the most exciting competitions these days as there is not any other incentive to winning the tournament other than another trophy in the cabinet. However, there are still some entertaining matchups along with some great goals in Mexico’s cup competition. Here are five “golazos” you may have missed from the second round of matches in the Apertura 2018 edition of the Copa MX.

Javier Guemez


Leon was dominant against Queretaro as Los Esmeraldas had a 2-0 lead right up until the 93rd minute of the encounter. Andres Mosquera cleared a ball outside of the box with a header but it fell right to Javier Guemez, who released a powerful strike to get past William Yarbrough.

Franco Jara


There were quite a few impressive long-range strikes among them was this punt by Franco Jara from about 30 yards out against Jonathan Orozco and Santos Laguna.

Jose Juan Macias


There were five goals in the game between Chivas de Guadalajara and Monarcas Morelia, but the best one was clearly this game-winning goal by 18-year-old Jose Juan Macias.

Jacob Akrong


The final two goals are both from the same game, a thrilling 3-2 clash at the Estadio Agustin Coruco Diaz between Zacatepec and Cruz Azul. The visiting team came out on top, but Ghanaian defender Jacob Akrong pulled off this spectacular goal for the home side.

Elias Hernandez


The game was tied after Akrong’s effort, but Elias Hernandez responded with a “golazo” of his own in the 82nd minute to give Cruz Azul the three points from the clash.
